LOUISE L. HAY CHANGED MY LIFE WHEN SHE PLANTED A SEED

PictureGordon and I Met Louise Hay in 2014 at an I Can Do It Event
I am dedicating this blog to our beloved Louise L. Hay, whom I "met" in the late 1980's. She planted a seed in me that changed the direction of my life.

Today is one year from her passing at the age of 90. She became a dear "bedside" friend when I started using her affirmations and meditations in the evening. I read her books and the books of other authors at Hay House Publishing, attended her "I Can Do It" events, and certified as a Heal Your Life Workshop Leader and Coach in San Diego in 2014. I met Louise Hay in person there; and I worked with the same health coach she used, Heather Dane, 21st Century Medicine Woman.  This work has changed my life in more way than I can mention in this blog. I have met a fabulous tribe on the forefront of new thinking and ways of living.  And as a sensitive and intuitive person, I have dedicated myself to an energy clearing practice through Jean Haner, which has been the icing on the cake in healing my life.

So back to that seed. As I created my life in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1980's, I experienced various symptoms. Just coming out of graduate school and moving to the Bay Area to start a job as a buyer for a major household products company, I had my emotional work cut out for me. To fortify myself in this journey, I explored spiritual centers and activities.

MY TATTERED LITTLE BLUE BOOK FROM 1982
As a result of my move and changes, I had daily headaches - chronic low-level headaches that would once in a while explode into a "being in bed all day" kind of headache.

As a sensitive person who reacts more easily to everything, including medications, I didn't want to load up on prescriptions to deal with these headaches. I wanted to heal them. I had to find a better way,

So as Universe would have it, I came across this little blue book, Heal Your Body, sitting in the literature section of Unity Center, Walnut Creek.

Under headaches, this book suggested the Probably Cause: "Invalidating the Self. Self-criticism. Fear. "

And the suggested New Thought Pattern or affirmation: "I love and approve of myself. I see myself and what I do with eyes of love. I am safe."

Thinking of my symptoms as communication from my subconscious was a totally new idea. So I gave it a try. And I healed my headaches naturally.

When I had a discomfort or symptom, I'd refer to this book and begin contemplating the Probable Cause and repeating the New Thought Pattern. This has become a habit.

These first steps in the late '80's, this seed, had a profound effect on the trajectory of my life. I have nurtured that seed and created a life that I certainly couldn't have believed possible. I am so grateful for the courage of Louise L. Hay and the many authors, speakers, and workshop leaders at Hay House.  It takes a ton of courage to put new ideas out, and deal with the criticism it often brings.

Little did I know what a huge impact their courage and wisdom would have on my life. Through this process of opening up my mind to a different thought, I met like-minded friends also exploring this work - a tribe. I found other books and authors to help me on my way. One of my favorite was Shakti Gawain's Creative Visualization, which had me visualizing the life I wanted as I BARTed to and from work.

So, thank you Louise L. Hay, from the bottom of my heart, for your courage to be who you were. For your ability to write simple truths in such elegant ways. For your soothing voice in your meditations that allowed me to relax into who I was. For your mirror work, which allowed me to look myself in the eyes and say "I love you. I completely love you." And for giving me a program of healing that I can share with others in my coaching work. Your work has been the foundation of my coaching, for without self-love, we really don't give a damn about our health. We must have a high regard for ourselves to truly feel good inside and out. Thank you for the words you left with us on the planet to move us to a more fulfilling and relaxing life. You did a fantastic job!  😘
